Is Riding A Bike Safer?
How did we fall into the habit of needing a metal cart, powered by 50 horses, to go and buy a loaf of bread? Do we really need to power the equivalent of 18 radiators, or 60 hair dryers, or 400 light bulbs, or 50 microwaves to collect our children from school in such contraptions? Let’s not forget that half of the human body is made up of the legs that were not simply meant to press accelerators, clutches and brakes. Progress…is this just another word for laziness? Forget Sydney roads and their hazards, delays, road rage and tolls. Ride a bike, it will probably be quicker anyway but is it safer?

The cycle-way that runs along Epping Rd is unsafe. I have been coming out of the Shell service station and bikes come flying down the hill even when I exit slowly and cautiously. It’s the riders that put themselves at risk by not being prepared to slow or stop if needed. During the night, if there’s no lights on a cyclist then it’s even worse. Another blunder from the local council for not installing proper lighting and signage.
Forget riding a bike, it’s a health hazzard and and dangerous.
